Carbon Mapping Tool

Next 10 is working with a team of consultants to develop a tool that allows users to view the carbon footprint of their community. Below is a draft version of this tool. All of the indicator data represented are actual estimates of greenhouse gas emissions at the ZIP level. We hope you will send your feedback to help us create the best possible tool. In addition to general aesthetic improvements, version 2.0 will include the following features:

The eight categories of GHG emissions account for household expenditures:

• The tool will measure both on-site emissions, measured at the point-of-release, and consumption-related emissions, which refer to the consumer footprint resulting from household expenditures within the reporting area. The indicators will also be expanded to include power plant on-site emissions.
• The user will be able to view their community footprint by selecting their zipcode, city, or county, and will be able to compare the footprint of two reporting areas.
