California Budget Challenge – UPDATED June 2011 Edition

The California Budget Challenge is a nonpartisan online game that lets you decide how much to spend on schools, prisons, the environment and other state programs – and how to pay for them.

Next 10 has been traveling the state conducting highly interactive presentations using the California Budget Challenge -- allowing participants to vote on policy options that affect the budget in real-time with instant-response clickers. The California Budget Challenge allows users to:

Build a state budget based on your values and vision for the state's future
Learn about some of the topical policy choices legislators face
Take Action and email the governor and your representatives about the policy choices you are making
Understand about how the budget is built, who is involved, and important background information
See the choices other people are making on each policy choice
